All Began From Water Leak Damage
At One Stop Restoration, we’re here to help homeowners when water damage turns their homes upside down. Recently, we worked on a home in Winter Haven, FL, that had water damage in the kitchen and living room. The property needed water damage mitigation and then restoration. We got in there, cleaned it up, and fixed it to look as good as new!
The issue
A major water damage and intrusion event occurred due to two simultaneous sources: a water leak from the kitchen sink and an air conditioning unit water leak in the living room. These issues led to extensive flooding throughout the property, affecting multiple rooms and surfaces. The resulting water damage was substantial, compromising flooring, drywall, and various structural components of the home.
Our team promptly responded to the situation, arriving on-site to carry out comprehensive water damage mitigation services. This included drying out saturated materials using professional-grade equipment, and treating affected areas to prevent mold growth.
Following the water mitigation process, the water damage restoration phase began. We initiated the rebuilding phase, which involved repairing and restoring all damaged sections of the property. This ensured the home was returned to its pre-loss condition with safety, functionality, and aesthetics fully restored.

What We Did For the Water Damage Mitigation

Stopping the Source of Water
We quickly identified and shut off the kitchen plumbing and disconnected the AC unit to prevent further water intrusion, ensuring no additional moisture entered the home before beginning mitigation procedures.
Inspecting the Water Damage
First, we checked everything to see how bad the water damage was. We looked at the walls, ceilings, and floors to figure out what needed to be removed and replaced.
Extraction of Standing Water
Using high-powered water extraction equipment, we removed all standing water from affected rooms, significantly reducing saturation levels and helping prevent secondary damage such as buckling floors or mold formation. This is an essential step for water damage mitigation.
Drying Out Structures
We strategically placed commercial-grade dehumidifiers and air movers to dry structural elements like studs, subfloors, and drywall cavities, promoting rapid moisture evaporation and reducing the risk of long-term deterioration.
Removal of Unsalvageable Materials
The wet and damaged materials, like drywall, insulation, and parts of the flooring, had to go. We cut out the bad sections and hauled them away to make space for repairs.
Sanitization and Mold Prevention
All affected areas were treated with EPA-approved antimicrobial agents to disinfect surfaces and inhibit mold growth, providing a safer indoor environment and protecting against future biological contamination.
What We Did For the Water Damage Restoration

Water Damage Assessment & Restoration Plan
We evaluated all affected areas following the water damage mitigation and developed a damage restoration plan for our Winter Haven client. We' prioritized structural repairs, material replacements, and cosmetic damage restoration to bring the home back to a safe, livable condition.
Structural Repairs
Rebuilt damaged sections of drywall, insulation, and framing where materials were removed during the damage mitigation, ensuring structural integrity and preparing surfaces for finishing touches like painting and flooring installation.
Flooring Replacement
In such cases water damage restoration requires flooring replacement. We removed the water-damaged flooring where necessary and replaced it with new materials.
Painting and Finishing
Painted newly installed drywall and touched up surrounding surfaces to blend repairs seamlessly with existing finishes, restoring a consistent and refreshed look to the home’s interior.
Cabinetry and Fixture
Replaced cabinets and vanities that were water-damaged, restoring both function and aesthetic harmony to the affected spaces.
The Final Restoration of the Property
The End Result
Following a final cleaning and another inspection/walkthrough, the house went from being water-damaged to looking brand new. The walls and floors were all fixed up, and the home was once again safe and comfortable for the family again.
